Steve Thomson is the Director of the Change The Future™ programme along with Steven Martin. Steve is highly accomplished in strategic planning, business analysis & modelling, consumer & market research and business alignment of IT systems. He has more than 16 years of consulting experience primarily working as a Finance and IT Director engaged in consulting and non-exec roles. Steve leads the team of exceptional financial analysts and chartered accountants in delivering the Change The Future programme supporting advisors working with their clients.
Some of Steve’s recent projects have involved:
- Strategy & planning: successfully steered a leading recruitment company to achieve rapid year on year growth through implementation of a strategic framework and rigorous financial reporting.
- Business analysis & modelling: Using thorough analysis and financial modelling to identify profitable outlets Steve brought an ailing retail business with multiple sites back on track. This was followed up with a systematic reduction of costs and increased sales strategy through customer segmentation. The company was prevented from going into receivership and ultimately led to the successful sale of the business.
- Consumer & market research: A distressed building company was set back on track by identifying the right customer profile and developing the right sales message for the client segment. The client segment was identified following extensive market research. Following this a funding partner was chosen for the company to work with. The final stage was equipping the business with the correct promotional material that talked directly to the market segment. This meant they could direct the sales approach and equip the sales team with a range of profitable products in demand by the residential sector.
- Business alignment of IT systems: Steve is an active member of the British Computer Society and advises multiple IT companies in growth and technology risks. Steve has assisted many clients in selecting the correct IT solution both in infrastructure and security products to help them grow and flourish using technology to create a competitive advantage. He played a key role in implementing planning technology infrastructure and outsourcing initiatives at a large engineering company in the UK.
Steve began his career in the RAF before moving into the private sector where he held senior roles in accountancy before latterly moving into consultancy roles as a non-exec director within leading recruitment and engineering companies.
Steve has a diploma in non-directional counselling and holds professional memberships of the following institutes; ICPA, ISACA and the BCS.
